My DH is a highway police officer and has a Tom Tom. He thinks it's great and gets him to the many destinations that he has to escort VIPs to. HTH!

we have a Garmin street pilot c580 (I think that's the #?).....it's loaded w/ MSN service free for a year (and not too expensive every year after). it has all kinds of locations pre-loaded into it!! it also provides local gas station prices as one of its menu options (its supposed to contain traffic info, but so far it doesn't seem to be too accurate, it only shows construction related delays, not real time traffic). we absolutely love it though!! Garmin is great!

Text-to-speech directions? "Turn left on Main Street" versus "Turn left"
Bluetooth
Portability (how easy is it to carry with you when you are walking or riding a bike.
Real-time Traffic.
Screen size
Depending on what features are important to you makes a big difference in which model you get (and the price...)

I bought mine off of newegg.com it was only $100 and it had good feedback. It's a nextar. Seriously, look at newegg.com
