Can't schedule an interview?! UPDATE
I sent my resume in for a job I am very interested in. I received a voicemail the next day asking me to call for an interview. I returned the call the same day but got a voicemail that stated they were out of the office. That was a Thursday.
I called again today and received the same voicemail that they are out of the office.
How long to would you wait before calling again? The outgoing message simply stated that the person is out of the office, no return date. I only got her extension and I don't want to tick anyone off by trying to speak with someone else.
As you can tell, I am very interested in the position and would like to interview asap.
UPDATE- So I took the advice of the posters that encouraged me to follow up and called today and dialed zero instead of the extension. Spoke with a live person who connected me to the correct person and after a brief phone interview, I have an interview this week.

Re: Can't schedule an interview?!
I hate to tell you, but there were a few times I got a call for an interview, returned the call (twice!) and never heard back. If you already called twice, I'd wait a week, in case the person was on vacation for that week, and try one more time. But then that's it. If they are interested in you, they know how to find you.
Good luck!

Re: Can't schedule an interview?!
Can you zero out of the voicemail system & ask to speak to HR?
I would follow up as soon as they called & I see no reason why getting creative & finding the receptionist or HR to lead you in the right direction wouldn't' be to your advantage.
The worst case scenario is they tell you the position is filled. The best case scenario is that they give you an interview because you have great follow up skills. Also, this just happened today with someone I interviewed. She followed up & well, we gave her a second shot at the job so she's on her second round.

This.
I think there's a difference between being persistent vs. being annoying.
