Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
It'll be ok. The anticipation is the worse part! Soon Madison will be here and the c section will be a distant memory.

Nicole-- I know easier said than done, but try not to worry. I am sure everything will be great, and in the end you'll have Madison to wash away any fear/anxiety you've been having!!!

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
U could have called me! I would have went through it again with you. For allllllllll you ladies to know it really is nothing**** I was petrified..I broke my upper-middle and lower back..I hate needles--hate being out of control--had 2 previous c sections by a doctor who lost his license u name it...
the c section was cake..you get locals to numb the area--the only one u feel is one that cause tingles--nothing more then tingles down your leg--the needles are very small--just in case u wanted to know--then u get the epi or spinal... I swear by the spinal-I have had both and u do not feel it due to the locals. It goes soooooooooo fast ...One hour from beginning to end. I felt nothing really until over 24 hours later and that was my fault. I decided to move around the hospital furniture. I know everyones pain level is diff but i I really thought it was ok-its the anxiety leading up to it. WHen it comes down to it--u will come to terms and say..ok this is it..it has to be done and deal with it--let yourself go and u will be like THAT WAS IT?????????
TRUST ME....

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
Don't be scared - it is really not bad at all. I had a c/s 4 weeks ago, and honestly within 2 weeks I felt 95% healed. You will have so much adrenaline from the excitement of seeing and holding your daughter in the beginning that you won't even be thinking about any pain you might be feeling...

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
Honestly you will be so excited that day and during the whole thing you won't even be thinking about it. For me the spinal was the worst part and that wasn't even bad.
You will enjoy the entire day with your little girl and then you will get some much needed sleep. Actually you can sleep for a bit in recovery.
My big advice take the pain meds they give you!!! And get up and walk as soon as they will let you.
Also I had a spinal and it made me itchy. Evidently a fairly normal reaction which I didn't know about. Ask for benedryl. Worked like a charm.
You are going to do great!

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
Look - no one was a bigger baby than me with this whole thing - and it will be a bit scary at 1st, but you have to really focus on the END result - you will have Madison in the world... Thats what I kept thinking about on the table... that pretty soon my baby will be here!!!

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
I can totally relate. I am having my csection on Thursday and I am terrified. I have said too I think it is more the anticipation and not knowing what is going to happen. I am hoping once it is all going on I will be relaxed. Everyone has been so supoprtive. And everyone's words on this particular post are very helpful. When I told my doctor how scared I am she said that this is the only time you go in for surgery and get to take a beaufdtul package home with you. So I just keep trying to think about that..better said though than actually doing it.
Good luck on FRiday!

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
Nicole, I know what your feeling I have had two c-sections and I am now starting to get nervous and all panicky about the third!!!!! I know deep down that it's not that bad but I'm still all freaky about it !!! especially since I have this horrible fear of needles!!! (which is silly ,,,since I should be use to it by now,, I'm on hydroproxyprogestrone once a week) I will send all my healing vibes to you once you hear the first little noise from your baby you forget about everything else!!

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
The anticipation you will see is going to be much worse than what you go through that day it is easier said than done, but try to relax. The surgery itself will be over and done with in no time and your beautiful little baby will be in the room occupying your thoughts and next thing you know - you'll be done!

Re: can't sleep having nightmares about c-section
Nicole, you are going to be fine. When the doctor told me I wasn't dilating and was going to need a c-section I just thought about the baby. I knew if it had to come to that I would be in good hands and it would be best for the baby. Try to get some rest.
