Capri Juice Boxes

My sons drink the Capri Sun Roaring Water Juice boxes but I think they drink WAY too many of them. They drink about 4-5 ea per day.

Would you say this is too many? I tried giving them juice in a cup but they want the juice boxes. I thought because it's water it wasn't too bad but now I'm thinking it's a bad habit.

They do drink milk when they wake up and before bed but only the water juice boxes during the day.

Thoughts?

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

I am not familiar with them. How much sugar is in each serving? How many servings per pouch?

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

My girls were like that with juice for a long time. I would cut it with water, but they were getting way too much sugar from it and my younger DD was having major gastrointestinal issues which the ped thought might have something to do with the juice.

I took them off juice cold turkey. They get water or milk, that's it. I completely stopped buying it.

It sucked for like a week because they both wanted it, but we dealt. Now they are fine with it.

Also, to answer your original question, yes, I think 4-5 of those juice boxes are way too much.

I would say that 4-5 capri suns is a lot of sugar.

Maybe you could try cutting down by switching the capri sun into a cup and doing half water?

I'm pretty sure that Roaring Waters is made with artificial sweetener, so I would say that is too many.

Yes, I just looked it up, it's made with Splenda, and the other sugar content is from HFCS. Yuck. I hate when companies brag about "less sugar", but use artificial sweeteners.

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

I knew that was going to be the answer. There was a news report last night about children drinking too many juice boxes getting diabetes.

Well that's the end to juice boxes even if it is only water juice boxes. Strictly water and milk it is.

Thanks

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

My kids went to the dentist and were told they have to drink water. They are only allowed 1 cup of juice in a big kid cup while seated at the table. They are almost 2years old and 3.5 years old. I have been trying to get them to drink water for a wile but it didn't take until the dentist told them to lol

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

We used to use the roaring waters since they had less sugar, now we find the flavored water juice boxes, they're usually organice but my DD loves them. they're just water with a flavor and she doesn't know the difference.

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

i only use juice boxes when on the go...

at home we drink heavily diluted juice from cups. i fill the glass about 1/4 to 1/3 cup with juice, the rest water. i periodically buy new water bottles and they love to drink water from them. it's milk, water, and watered down juice in our house. when they get their hands on straight juice and/or juice box, it's like crack to them! Re: Capri Juice Boxes

Sounds like way to many to me. I only allow DS juice once a day. Usually juice boxes are just for when we go out, but occasionally he can have one at dinner. I held out giving DS any type of juice until he was 2 years old. He only drank water and milk until then.

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

I only give juice to my diabetic daughter when she is low. My other kids never get any juice. Way too much sugar and terrible on their teeth. My kids love water so we stick with that.

Re: Capri Juice Boxes

I think 4-5 juice pouches a day is too much, to be honest.

My daughter gets one juice box in her lunchbox.

She brings a small water bottle in her snack.

She drinks a big glass of milk with dinner.

Other then that it is all water.

WAAAAAAAAAY too many!! Plus, have you looked at what is in those??!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon I *almost* bought them yesterday and as I am on line I am looking at the box and I was shocked!! It is water loaded with SPLENDA and high fructose corn syrup!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon It's complete garbage. Needless to say, I didn't buy them. I would switch what you're giving them.

You're better off giving them Fruitables which are all fruit/veggie juices and even then, you HAVE to limit them. My DD (she's 3) can only have 1 juice box a day and if I give her fruit juice in her cup, it's 1/4 juice and 3/4 water.

This. I won't use them b/c they are made with artificial sweetners (not sure exactly what but I am not a fan of those).
