Car Insurance...

What kind of car insurance does everyone have?

what is the cheapest, best coverage?

hubby and I are FINALLY combining insurances and we just want to see what else is out there.

Geico has always been cheapest for us -- and I check the rates elsewhere every time I renew.

Re: Car Insurance...

Geico... I had Progressive but FH wanted to combine our insurance. Geico for me is a tish more expensive, but there's more coverage (if I got the coverage I have with Geico with Progressive I would've been paying loads more).

Re: Car Insurance...

I have state farm through my dad still and DH has geico. We're going to combine as soon as my registration is up (my car is still in my Dad's name for some unknown reason). Geico has given us the better quote.

Re: Car Insurance...

I used to have Geico, however, I was so mad when I was in an accident that they would only cover me for USED parts....not aftermarket....actual USED parts! Who puts used parts on their car?

DH works for Allstate, so now I am covered by them

Re: Car Insurance...

Geico. We have an 05 Pathfinder and an 08 Camry. $212/mo.

We lease so the coverage is a little higher.

So far they haven't raised our rates and we have had two claims.

Geico, if you have excellent credit and no previous history of accidents or violations.

My DH can get great insurance through GMAC, since he's a GM dealer.

Re: Car Insurance...

Caz~ stick with Geico. The only reason I switched to State Farm was because my DH is a big pvssy and didn't want to leave his agent.

I will say though, the only reason I agreed is that his agent gave us a GREAT deal because he didn't want us leaving.

Hmmmmmm..... I wonder what's going on between those two.....Chat Icon

This actually makes Geico LESS expensive, doesn't it? Chat Icon

If you don't have excellent credit, don't give your SS # when you request a quote. (You'll have to give it eventually, but you do NOT have to give it just to get a quote)

As for accidents, I had 1 ticket and 2 no fault accidents when I first got Geico (all are off my record now)... They were still the cheapest when I was looking.

They generally only accept very good risk (accidents/tickets/experience) but their rates are cheap.

It's also like USAA where you can sign up for dividends, so at the end of the year the insurance company pays you, or take the up front discount.

I go for up front discount of course.

I have my renters insurance for my huntington apt plus extended liability for my hubby's co-owned condo in Hempstead and including our Jewerly floater. Our renters insurance limits are increased because of the extension of insurance to the condo and I wanted ot increase it due to the stuff I own. Along with our Auto for an 01 Tribute and 03 Mazda6. Both fully covered (glass no ded, increased rental, increased towing, $500 ded)

I pay about $260 a month for everything.

Its a 10month pay (10 equal installments) no deposit. So every year I get two months without ins payments.

I've had two claims so far and they've been decent. (and I'm in insurance and certified for claims).

ETA: and no, my credit aint the best! :( and I had my hubby added when we got married and his record STUNK but its been clean over the last three years and EVERY year we get a reduction

Re: Car Insurance...

geico! but i gotta call and complain! how the heck are you guys paying only $200 a month for 2 cars?

we havent combined our policies since we got married so maybe when i do that it'll bring it down a bit. but still! we're paying a little over $200 for EACH car! does it matter that they're both new and we're leasing?

Re: Car Insurance...

we just switched to geico about 3 months ago from allstate. i already got in a no fault accident the first month and they handled it well except for the chiropractor that they sent me too who suggested i need no further physical therapy. we have 3 cars listed for about 200 and change and they are all leases.
