Car insurance question
My DH has a 2002 Trans Am(last one ever made) that has only 25K miles on it. We just paid the lien off on it. We are transferring it off my FIL's insurance to mine...
Does anyone know if there is insurnace such as classic or weekend insurance? It is only driven Friday-Sunday.
TIA

Re: Car insurance question
Not that I know of but when you call to get an insurance quote, tell them that the car is always garaged and that it's never driven. If you tell them you won't use it much, that'll lower your rate as it is.

Re: Car insurance question
I drive my 1996 Impala SS(late model of the last year made) about 2000 miles a year. I was told that it is not old enough to get collectors insurance through my company. I just told them how many miles I put on the car in a year and they gave me a reduced rate. I had to get a rider to my policy because of a very large audio system in the car as well. I would make sure if he has any upgraded stereo that you disclose that because I didn't a few years back and my car was broken into. I was out over 5k in equipment. Anyways you can try and get the collectors insurance but I wouldn't know the exact companies to go through. Have him try on www.f-body.org. They would be a bigger help than me.

Re: Car insurance question
Classic insurance is 20 years.
Haggerty Car Insurance deals with classic cars, custom cars, limited-use cars, etc. They should be able to give you a good idea of if it's even possible.

I know that other companys will insure cars even if they are not 20 years old. Do a search for classic car insurance and a lot of companies come up. My DH car is only 17 years old and he is getting collectible insurance from a company in Florida.
