car seat installation
Can ask where you all had your car seats installed and/or inspected? Because DS came a couple of weeks early, my sister-in-law took the car while I was in the hospital and had a family member who was visiting her (who is a cop) install it for us. This, after I made several calls to local police stations while pregnant and noone would return my calls. I know this is not mandatory, but I would feel better having someone that knows what they are doing show me and DH correctly. We got a second car seat for Christmas and want to install it. Who else will do it that I can make an appointment with and not get the runaround when I call? I live in suffolk. Thanks!

I called all over the place before DS was born, the police and fire depts., a parent resource center in our town, a hospital, the town of North Hempstead, etc. Never found a place that does this!
I'm sorry I can't help. Wonder if this just isn't common out here for some reason?

Hassell Autobody on Rt 109 in Babylon did mine. The girl Jennifer there was a real sweetheart. She took her time and explained everything she was doing. You do not need an appoinment. You can go there Monday - Friday from 8-4.
Also Good Sam hospital does it too but I had a hard time scheduling a day/time that was convenient for me and my schedule.

The Farmingdale State Police Station on Route 110 installs car seats. They installed both my DDs infant and convertible seats. You have to make an appt. with them, Trooper Ron Gallo installed ours.

We had such a problem with installation of our infant seats. We actually had appts and were still turned away from police station in Selden. We are in desperate need of switching DS over to his next carseat. But I want to switch it over the same day I have it inspected. Not sure if it'll happen.
Try to drive to a fire station or police station and see what they say. I found calling doesn't help at all.
