Re: CAREER ADVICE PLEASE...

I am the minority, but I just couldn't handle that commute. I am also not a teacher, so I am not super familiar with the job market.

I think, if I were you, if you can survive on one income until you can find something out here that would make you happy, I would go for it.

That's just me though.

What is your gut telling you to do? Whatever it's saying, listen... don't necessarily do whatever your gut says, but do give it some serious consideration. There is a reason you are feeling that way. Good luck whatever you decide.

Re: CAREER ADVICE PLEASE...

If you transfer to another school in NYC, your tenure goes with you. Is than an option?

Instead of resigning, why not take a childcare leave? You can take them at any point until your child's 4th birthday. This way you can escape your commute and your school, "practice" living on just your DH's salary, and you still have a job to come back to if you need it.

Re: CAREER ADVICE PLEASE...

That's crazy commute. But I work in NYC and am gone 12 hours a day so I say keep your job. Especially since you have your mother watching DC.
