Caroline Manzo of RHofNJ/Face Shaving for Exfoliation/ and YOUR thoughts...PoLL!
By now, we all know Caroline Manzo of Real Housewives fame admitted openly to shaving her face daily for exfoliation. She said she has great skin, and this is one of the reasons. She says by shaving her face daily, it is a great way to exfoliate.
I found myself in the shower tonight, like most nights. I just used my face washes and my nightly ritual of beautification. I looked in the ever-foggy mirror that hangs in my shower that is supposed to NOT GET FOGGY, but that is a lie. I always check my face out when I am all done, to look at my pores, etc.
And then I found my hand reaching for my razor. My manly, 42932 blade razor.
I paused. I heard Caroline's voice in my head.
Then I heard me.. "(name), Don't do this. You may regret it. What if you get shaving bumps? or stubble? or, good g-d, an ingrown hair?? Don't.Effing.Do.It."
......Caroline Manzo won.
I Shaved My Face
..........and now I share this with you, just as I do everything else. The question begs to be asked...have you? or have you thought of it?
Now, listen, sometimes I may shave a bit of a unibrow away, if there are a few stray hairs that popped up here or there..but I never did my entire face. I did my ENTIRE FACE. So, let's assume the poll has to do with the entire face, and not just some stubborn chin or neck hair, mmmkay?

I would be scared that a beard would grow.
I have always heard that anywhere you shave, more hair grows. I do not have hair on my face (except eyebrow and little lip that I wax) and would be too scared to take the chance.

well? wht did u think? did it feel good? was it like exfoliated? personally, I sw that one episode, it did cross my mind just now reading this but I would never. I would never because my routine is long enough as it is.
Then I heard me.. "(name), Don't do this. You may regret it. What if you get shaving bumps? or stubble? or, good g-d, an ingrown hair?? Don't.Effing.Do.It."

I would never, only because of the girls that I know who do do it, HAVE TO do it daily. AND those girls don't look any younger than myself despite being younger than me. I prefer to stick with OTC glycolic acids, Retin-A and my Clarisonic.
As for shaving making more hair grow, I don't think that's the case, but the razor does cut it a specific way, making the tips of the hair more blunt, which in turn makes it more coarse and potentially more noticeable.

I know people in the spa industry who wax faces, whole faces. that seems worse, but they do it for the exfoliation/smoothness for makeup application. I did the sideburn area a few times. came in a little stubbly but then went back to normal.

that is so weird-my response to you got meshed in your answer when I quoted. I was curious as to what u thought, did it feel exfoliated? I myself have a passing thought of trying it when I saw that episode, but no. I never thought of it again, and my routine is already long enough. :)

it oddly DID feel exfoliated a bit!
I'm a risk-taker though when it comes to stuff like this though, so don't go by me.

i think make up would look better on a face that has been shaved...most people have little hairs all over their face - you have to look at yourself in sunlight at the right angle and then you'll see them so i can def see how makeup could look better on shaved skin...
i don't think i'd have the guts to do it though and keep up with it everyday...i barely exfoliate now...
i went to cosmotology school and everything i learned taught us that hair does not grow back thicker or darker from shaving...
you got guts girl!

funny you mention about the little hairs on women's faces...I have read marilyn monroe had a layer of soft "fuzz" and it made her skin look very angelic.

i d shave my entire face. i shave my upper and lower lip in the shower for a few months now . i like it better then going and getting it done. i do get hair grown back but i shave it alot so its not as thick and i think its looks so much better then it did before i got it done.

Re: Caroline Manzo of RHofNJ/Face Shaving for Exfoliation/ and YOUR thoughts...PoLL!
il step up. i do it from time to time and it DOESNT grow in fuller or darker.
i have blond hair on my arms and legs, minimal really. but i also have peach fuzz on my face. shaving it makes makeup go on a million times easier.
i do it maybe 2 times a month.
it takes 30 seconds, i do it after i put my face wash on (use the face wash as the lubricant to shave) ive done it for 3-4 years after one of my college friends told me about it
what now
eta - only my chin area, sides of my face - cheeks. Not my forehead or nose or above my lips etc
