Carpet - what should I get??UPDATED with another question in my last post.
So here's the dilemna...
My whole house is hardwood floors except for two bedrooms. We ripped out the carpet and intended to get the floors refinished. The guys came today, did a small patch in each room and it didnt come out so good, so I opted not to move forward.
So...now I have to get carpet. One is going to be a nursery and is yellow. The other will be a guest room and probably eventually a child's room if we decide to have another.
Should I just get a tan in both rooms?
Right now we have the furniture for both of those rooms in the living room so I want to get this done asap.
Suggestions welcome! Thanks :)

Re: Carpet - what should I get??
I would get a neutral color, like a tan or beige. Maybe get a berber for the guest room/child's room. It's very durable and will last you a long time.

I agree too! This is what we did. We got a tan color berber in both of our extra bedrooms. One room we painted yellow the other we painted brown

Re: Carpet - what should I get??
When we first moved into our house we went with a berber upstairs and it is kind of rough, maybe not the best for a bedroom. When we had to recarpet our bedroom we went with a Frise, which has the same look as a berber but is much softer. I love it because it has a mix of beige shades in it - kind of like oatmeal

Re: Carpet - what should I get??
i agree with tan berber.. it is SOO durable! we have hardwood in our house, but i wanted carpet in the living room just to "warm" it up a little bit... and we got a nice tan berber from home depot, and i'm really happy with how its holding up so far... it would definitely be a good choice for a kids room!!
ETA: its not the best pic, but i have pics of our house in my photo albums- you can see the carpet in the pic of the living room

Re: Carpet - what should I get??UPDATED with another question in my last post.
So I just went to a store in the neighborhood and checked out the Berber.
I picked one out by Shaw that we may go with.
I have 2 rooms - one is like 10x10 and the other is like 13x13. They estimated about $1200....Does that sound decent?
THANKS!

I also suggest berber. I also suggest seeing if you can get remnants - this way you can get a nice carpet for less money!!

yeah! the remants are a good idea... especially since you're not doing HUGE rooms... you might be able to find a remant that would be the right size for the room. we got ours at home depot- it was on a roll, and they cut you what you need. i think we paid about $300 ( including the pad) or so, but DH and his friends installed it themselves, so installed it would have been more...

$1200 is obsene. HD is having a sale right now- $99 flat installation, but it takes 2 weeks.
Berber is the cheapest- $1200 is too much, unless the rooms are like 20x20 each.

Re: Carpet - what should I get??UPDATED with another question in my last post.
I got neutral colors when we got carpet installed in February.
We did a tan downstairs and in the hallway and a very light gray in our bedroom, that in sun light, depending on the angle, looks bluish, or purplish depending on another angle.
Pictures are in my community album.

Glad to help carpet is actually my most recent headache- we're getting installed on Friday- I have a guy - his price beat everyone by like $1000- where are you? I will gladly ask him tomorrow if he wants referrals, and I'll get you his number if you like...

ditto on the berber - we are installing new berber in the master before we leave tan & ocean blue ( we have beige walles wanted something to break up all that tan so we're doing a bit of blue in it. ) berber lasts forever and is really durable. the old carpet survived my 7 dogs for 15 years.
