Carpet
Hi! I am looking for recommendations for installed carpet. Has anyone used Empire? Are there cheaper options out there? We don't need anything too fancy. Thanks!!

Re: Carpet
We used Empire Carpet for our house.
I was very happy with their work and their price considering all that we did with our house.
I had good dealings with them, but I do know that some girls on this site did not and there are a few threads on them, but overall service with many of us has been good.
Other recommendation - Carpet Depot next to JCPenney Homestore in Lake Grove. IL's used them for their carpet and were happy.

Re: Carpet
I used Home Depot and was very happy with the service. The installer gave me his name and number so that way I can order the carpet at home depot he will pick it up and instal it for less then home depot charged me. If you want his number let me know.

Re: Carpet
I had an absolute NIGHTMARE of an experience with them (Empire). I will never recommend then - not to mention they're VERY expensive!
I recommend - G Fried on Old Country Road. They're not only extremely knowledgeable, they're professional and very reasonably priced.

Re: Carpet
there have been numerous carpet posts lately, L auren, you could probably find a lot of info if you go back a few pages.
I know my parents have always done well with getting remnants from Montauk Carpet in Farmingdale. Remnants are good because you can get a better carpet for cheaper.

Re: Carpet
Empire wanted close to $900 for a rug in my computer room. It was a one car garage that was shorted for my laundry room and oil burner. That price was for the cheapest rug that they carried. I went to home depot and picked out their most expensive line of carpets and it was $500. Since it is a pretty small room we are planning on going to montuk carpets on 110 and get a nice remnant for 1/2 the price.
