Carseat installation question
I thought I've read that the infant carseat goes in the middle, rear facing. Lately I've heard a lot of people putting it behind the passenger seat. Help! Where is it supposed to go?

Re: Carseat installation question
it depends on your car. in certain cars, middle just won't work due to the position of belts and latches.
ETA: I would think technically middle is safest, as there is little risk of a side-impact accident.

Re: Carseat installation question
Middle is the safest. Then behind the front passenger seat.
I had to put mine in behind the front passenger seat. I am too short and it's too hard/heavy for me to reach the middle with an infant in a carseat.

Re: Carseat installation question
You're allowed to put it in the front pass seat??
I have a 2 door (DH has a 4 door) and I dread having to put the car seat/baby in my car!! I'll be taking over the 4 door, but would be good to know .... thx

Re: Carseat installation question
Okay, thanks everyone. We put ours in the middle and then I got worried when a friend had hers installed and they put it behind the passenger seat. I guess in that car that was the best option.

Re: Carseat installation question
You should read your car instructions as they tell you where you should place the seat in your particular car. Then have it inspected. When we got our inspection they told us exactly where the safest place was in our car and which convertible car seat they recommended for our car when she out grows the infant seat.

Re: Carseat installation question
I have read that experts all say different placements. Middle is better in case of side-impacts, but not if rear-ended. Driver's side is better, b/c the driver instinctively stears away to protect themselves, etc
