carseats???
i found this in the consumer reports webpage:
• When possible, position the car seat in the center of the back seat, the safest place in a vehicle, even if that means attaching the car seat with the car safety belt and not the LATCH system.
does anyone do this??? I just wonder cause i always thought it goes directly behind the driver or passenger seat. I will have my first baby in sept so I wanted to ask you ladies.

Re: carseats???
I have heard the pros and cons of every position, so I just decided to do what fit best for us.

Re: carseats???
I have also heard that the middle is the safest, but I find that the carseat is more stable on one of the sides.

Re: carseats???
We have Gianna's carseat in the middle of my Murano and Altima. It's hard to get her out of the Murano, cause i am only 5'3'' I have to step into the truck.
But we didn't use the seatbelt, we attached the latch to right and left sections of the latch attachments in the car on the sides. Her seat/base is tight in there

Re: carseats???
Mine is in the middle. I think it's easier to get her into and out of it in the middle--believe it or not--because I can sit down next to her and buckle her in.

Thats exactly what I did. We have latch on the sides, but used the belt instead to have the seat in the middle.

Re: carseats???
I have had the same question. We have ours behind the passenger because we have an audi and it specifically says to use the latch on the sides and to not use the left and right LATCH to put the seat in the center, however i always thought center was safest....

Re: carseats???
Since I have two kids now, the middle is no longer an option. But when I just had Andrew, I had him in the middle in his infant seat, but when I moved him to his Britax marathon, it didn't really fit in the middle, so we had him behind hte passenger seat.

Re: carseats???
The belief is that the center is the safest because of side impact accidents. It's better not to have the seat up against the door. I'm sure just like everything else, they'll say that now and in 10 years we'll find out that the side is the safest.
We have ours in the middle and I find it the easiest. I have a Pilot and I'm short so climbing into the car is the easiest thing for me.
