case of the missing socks
baby laundry question....
I am convinced that either my washer or dryer is 'eating socks'
I'm serious, though.... He is missing at least 10 socks.... every one of them is lost somewhere in the cleaning process.... they always enter the hamper in pairs! I'm getting pizzed.... we already lost over $15 in socks this month!
Where do you think they could be going? anyone ever solve this mystery?

Re: case of the missing socks
No idea because I hate when this happens. Thankfully it's not too often. Can you wash them in a lingerie bag?

Re: case of the missing socks
Oddly enough, this always happened to me before having DS. Now that I've become a mom I rarely lose my socks or his socks.
The laundry bag is an idea. WHen he was an infant, I used to put all his socks in a luandry bag, like the bag was a sock hamper. But that only lasted about 3 weeks.

Re: case of the missing socks
good point... maybe I should toss them in a pillow case.... I can't take it anymore. I bought about $25 in socks a few weeks ago, and lost so many socks in the initial wash that I had to go out and spend another $20 in socks last sat DH and I lose a sock every now and then, but NEVER at this level....

They will fall out of a pillowcase. They are small. Walmart has lingerie bags for $2. YOu can hang the bag on the side of the hamper and then wash it when it's half full.

Re: case of the missing socks
Do you have a front loader? I used to always loose Rylans socks in the seal area of our front loader. I now use a mesh bag.

Definitely use a lingerie bag! Once I started using one, I never lost a pair of socks again

Re: case of the missing socks
I had the same problem. Then one day I opened the lid to the machine and there was a tiny sock sitting on right on top of the inside part of the top load washing machine. The sock was half over the edge to falling inside the machine. I believe the sock would have fallen inside the washing machine if the spin cycel was longer. So I think we have a few dozen socks now inside the machine by now.

Re: case of the missing socks
When DS was smaller, I always used a lingerie bag. I started just throwing them in with the rest of the clothes, but I might go back to the lingerie bag. Since i mix my clothes with his, I often find one of his socks inside a shirt or a pair of my pants when I put them on.
