At my firm, some people give cash, others gift cards. I'm in the AMEX gift card group of givers. I feel weird giving cash.

I've been a legal secretary for 16 years and always received a cash gift for the "firm" and different gifts from the individual attorneys that I've worked for. One of the attorneys that is no longer at my current job that I worked for 2 years always gave me re-gifted gifts. One year he gave me a calendar date book with a coffee stain on the pages and another year he gave me regifted cheap perfume. (I think it was 10 yrs old). Both gifts immediately went into the garbage. (He also knew I was allergic to perfurme). Also, this guy wasn't new at being an attorney. He was in his 60's and had lots of $$.

I'm a paralegal and at my last job I got a bonus from the partner/firm and then a $200 gc to Macy's from my two associates.
At my current job, I got a $50 simon gc, but I've only been there for 3 months, so I didn't expect anything at all.
