casual lunch - catered

happy monday morning.

yay! i'm happy to say that i have been at my new job a week and i LOVE IT. i can't say enough good things about my new boss, the new department, the new drive, and the new people.

no drama!! is the best part.

now... i'm coming to you with a quick question.
i'm to put together a catered lunch for about 50 engineers for thursday. the guy in charge is looking for it to be catered by a "casual dining" place.

i've already reached out to chipotle and to panera. what other places (franchise) have you had (and enjoyed) a catered lunch from?
i would like to give him 3 or 4 options.

thanks in advance for any info you can share with me

Re: casual lunch - catered

Are there some local non chain type places you could try?
Like a good deli or sandwich shop maybe for sandwiches, salads and wraps?

Jersey Mike's?

ETA: Are you in Manhattan? Because Parm, Dos Toros, and Sophie's Cuban are good options, too.

ETAA: Or maybe something like Panda Express or Mama's Empanadas? A burger place is a good idea, too. We've had someone do a burger chain in the office, but I can't remember which place.

i'm definitely going to go that way eventually.
for this particular event, the guy in charge was adamant about it not being a local place. i don't know why.

I agree with this, there may be a better local Mexican place than Chipotle. Especially since you're on the West Coast. Check out Grubhub or Seamless for ideas.

Oh duh! I knew this. Hmm try EZCater.com. You can type in your zip and they'll come up with some great options. And they list everything.

oh he wants it from a chain? that's a bit odd.
Other than Panera and Chiptole, i'm coming up blank.
Subway is one- but Panera is better than Subway

Or Olive Garden, too. Applebee's, TGIFridays... probably any of those places.

Buffalo Wild Wings?

I haven't had anything catered from there, but it seems like it could be a different but good idea.

Re: casual lunch - catered

Check door dash to see what local restaurants are near you and give options accordingly. I think Mexican, deli, chinese/thai, bbq, and Italian are popular choices. Also include a vegetarian non cheese option if possible.

Know your audience on this one. Someone in my office catered from there not too long ago and people were furious and wouldn’t eat it.

I find Panera to be stingy with food. I’ve had catered chipotle and it was good (though I like chipotle).

I know they opened shake shacks in LA. You could say you’re gracing them with some NY food! Or go full LA and get in n out (though I have no idea if they cater).

Do they have Q'Doba out there? Since your boss wants a chain, QDoba gives you a lot more food than Chipotle, Chipotle's catering is very stingy. Panera does a pretty good job...they used to give more food until about 6 months a go, but still not bad for that type of event.

Our office loves Famous Dave’s (BBQ)...I’m pretty sure they are on the west coast
Or what about bagels? Einstein or Brueggers?

you people keep giving great ideas! i love it.

sadly, in n out would not do this type of event. they tend to do fundraising events with a truck. SO and i used to joke around that we would have them cater our wedding... our first meal together was at an in n out.

i'm keeping these ideas for future events that i'll have to put together!
