Cat eating Christmas tree needles?
What, if anything, can be done about one of my cats eating the tree needles? Is there anything that I can spray on the tree that won't harm the cat or the tree?
We got our's last night (BTW, it's a real tree) and woke up this morning to three puddles of kitty puke, needles and all. Yum. We know it's only one of our cats eating the needles.
TIA!

Have you tried tying her mouth shut?
is it ladybird?
gotta be something that cats don't like the smell of. mine don't like the smell of mint. i'd spray something minty on the tree.
try binaca.
i have no idea what i'm talking about lol.

No, it's Punk, the former fattie that I used to call Chunk.
You might be onto something with the mint.
I'm so cross-posting this on FHF now because all I got was you and Angela making fun.

Re: Cat eating Christmas tree needles?
We had the same problem with our puppy last year. Dogs don't like the smell of mint - so we'd spray binaca, Scope mouth spray, stuff like that around the tree. He eventually stopped eating the tree. We have a fake tree too.
Maybe cats don't like minty smell too? Worth a shot and can't hurt them.
This year our dog could care less that the tree is around, so it was just a curiosity thing for him.

Re: Cat eating Christmas tree needles?
When I was a younger living at home we had 3 cats. I would just sit by the tree and everytime one of them came close to it i would spray them with my water bottle.

Re: Cat eating Christmas tree needles?
I also heard cats don't like citrus...you could try that too...although mint is more 'festive'
