cat pee
my cat got locked in a room and peed on the carpet. YUCK! cat's suck for this reason... (sorry cat lovers, but i am partial to dogs)
Anyway, how do i get the smell out if i don't even know where the spot is?
i have a cup of vinegar out. DH says it sucks up the smell somehow. don't know if that is true or not.
PLEASE HELP! I AM SOOO SKEEVED!
PS - I have a dyson and am not sure of the powders that can be used...

If you don't know where the spot is you are going to have to get the whole thing cleaned. I love Chem-Dry. They have a natural pet deodorizer that works great!

Re: cat pee
You have to get a mini black light they sell them in the pet stores. The urine spot will show up right away. I hate to break this to you....nothing sure of replacing the carpet will get the smell out. And then before you lay down new carpet...you have to seal up the smell in the subflooring. It took 14 coats of primer to cover up the smell and nothing we used could get the smell out so I cut that part of the carpet out! Google it and there will be some more ideas that could help

Unfortunately, I have to agree with all of this. After taking in a stray cat and raising her 7 kittens in one of our spare bedrooms, the room was absolutely destroyed.
The good news is, you only have one spot. As the PP said, get a blacklight, this helped us GREATLY to figure out where the spots were. In our case, it was lining the entire length of 2 walls Try the Nature's Miracle first once you find the spot--if it's just that one spot, you may not have to replace the carpet.

Re: cat pee
my favorite guy warren eckstein (pet dude) always suggests natures miracle.
i will go to pet store tomorrow, i think petco has it. i have the link provided open in another browser to search.
also, the vinegar seems to be working, actually. i am shocked.
thanks for the ideas... and the bad news of replacing the carpet!! BOO!
i own a steam cleaner so i will try all these options before i replace. this weekend, this room is getting a super spring cleaning before all the other rooms.

Yup I agree. While I didn't have cat pee, I had my son pee on the rug when potty training. Tried EVERYTHING short of tearing out the carpet (it was a townhouse rental). When it was humid out, the smell came out 1,000 times stronger! Good luck!

Re: cat pee
I am a cat lover, put cat pee is the worst I would natures miracle, i fyou dont know where it is coming from - I would get the carpet cleaned and let the person who is cleaning it know to remove the odors. What i did in my old house was pulled that portion of the carpet back, it was fairly near the corner. This is because it soaked thru and the odor wasnt leaving, so I cleaned underneath the carpet.

Re: cat pee
Sprinkle baking soda over the spot and let it sit there. Then vaccuum in up.

Yes, this stuff really works. My DS threw up all over my couch and I was able to get it all out - even the foam cushion - using this. PITA with a couch cushion but it worked. It will be easier with a carpet.
