Re: Catholic wedding question
As far as I know, churches are very strict and will not marry outside a church.

Re: Catholic wedding question
Yes. I was married by a retired Catholic priest at my catering hall. It was a Catholic/Jewish wedding but we completed the necessary Catholic church paperwork so it is recognized by the RCC including signing an acknowledgement of our committment to raise our children Catholic, etc. We still attended pre-cana (interfaith pre-cana).

Catholic wedding question
I have a question.
What does it MEAN that the RC church willl not recognize your marraige??
Lets say both people are Catholic. You get married in a catering hall.
You go to church a week later and say "hey we are married". The church says "no, you are ot in the eyes of G-d".
What I want to understand is that will the church then say no, you are not married??
And what does that mean? Can you not be a married couple in church?
I am asking a serious question because I want to understand what this means.

No. It will not be recognized as the sacrament of marriage if it is not performed within the church.
Beware of officiants who say it will be recognized - it will not.
Definitely. There are some former priests who will do the ceremony outside of a church, but this is not recognized. I've never heard of one being performed outside of the church without the marriage later being "blessed" to have it recognized by the church.

I think it depends on the parish- but they might not allow you to have your children baptized there. I know my friends who are engaged were given a VERY hard time baptizing their daughter. They made the mother feel like less than a person because her and the baby's father weren't married yet. And they are getting married at the same church! Just a few months later.
