Cell phones at work

Do you leave your ringer on or vibrate? I've heard so many complaints about co-workers that leave their annoying phones on (especially when company policy is against it). Are you an offender? And if you need it for work, that is understandable.

When I was working, I had the ringer on. Now that I am in school, vibrate is on. The prof told me he never wants to hear Justin Timberlake again at 8am. Chat Icon

My DH and friends all have the ringer on at work.

Re: Cell phones at work

I have my own office and my own phone (in a school) so that is primarily the way that people reach me during the day. I keep the phone on silent and have the cell phone positioned in a way at the corner of my desk that I can always see the display and see if someone called. I used to keep it on vibrate, but I found that was killing the battery faster for some reasonChat Icon

i have my own office, but i don't keep the phone on - it's more due to laziness than anything else

anyone who needs to reach me has my direct office line

Re: Cell phones at work

so for those of you that leave the ringer on, does your employer or co-workers mind? This is more about companies that would rather you not have your cell on and people still don't grasp the concept

No one here minds but we don't have a policy stating we "can't" have them on. Almost all of us carry cell phones & they ring every once in awhile...We have a more laid back atmosphere at work

We are not supposed to have our ringers on, but we all have them on. I get clients ringing me on my mobile, as do a lot of my colleagues, so we all use them. My co-workers who do not get clients calling usually turn their ringers off (if they remember...)

Re: Cell phones at work

My phone is always on but I rarely get any phone calls. I have my own office so if it rings I dont think it disturbs anyone since you really cant hear it.

Re: Cell phones at work

I work for a media company so it's a little different. Ringers aren't nearly as offensive as some of the song parody's and youtube video's we review. The office is loud all day long. We actually have it written into our company policy about dealing with offensive material Chat Icon

Re: Cell phones at work

i don't wear it on me belt or anything. With the way things are in my life, I have it on ringer so I can hear it if I go to the printer or something like that.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't have it on ringer, but these days it's a must.

Re: Cell phones at work

Ringer--What I hate is people who don't answer theirs right away and have the sound turned all the way up. Mine is always on soft and I pick it up right away and if I can't answer I at least turn the sound off.
