Cemetery visits

I really do not like going to the cemetery to visit my dads grave site. I just feel like thats not him and don't like to think of him like that.
But I feel so bad when I don't go. I mean its a ride...but thats not really my excuse. I just don't like that he is there.

anyone feel that way?

Re: Cemetery visits

I don't really go at all. My parents are in the same place, and the only time I went after their funerals was after my wedding, to lay my throwaway bouquet. I don't really feel the need to go there to feel close to them - I get that feeling in other places.

Re: Cemetery visits

I am the opposite. It is not that I enjoy going to the cemetary to see my mom but when I go there I feel that I am closer to her. I know that she is everywhere I go but going to the cemetary makes me feel better. The only bad thing is that when I leave Icry like crazy. I feel like I am leaving her behind. I just went a couple of weeks ago and now I want to go to see to bring her something for V-day.

Re: Cemetery visits

I dont like to go either. My mom has been gone almost 8 years and I have been there only a handful of times. I live a quarter mile away from where she's buried. I feel like an awful daughter for not going to see her but it hurts so much. I'd rather reflect on her in a more positive setting. Chat Icon

Re: Cemetery visits

I actualy like going. I find it peaceful. Most of the time I just go visit my brother and my grandfather even though I have more family members near by.

Re: Cemetery visits

I enjoy going. Although I know my mom is around always, I feel like it's time that I can completely devote to speaking to her and remembering her. I've brought my 5 month olds to visit just once, but I plan on making that regular as well. The entire visit brings me peace.
