Pelosi?

Clinton’s?

Cuomo....I’m sure he has a couple houses.

If I felt like spending the time I could find their net worth.

But that’s ok. These are the people you are listening to. Telling you CEOs make too much. Didn’t everyone say they are public servants? Wow, what a gig.

I agree with you!

Moscow Mitch is worth over 30M ! He represents one of the poorest states in our country that is failing in every metric.

Should we discuss Kelly Loeffler and her insider trading ?

Have you seen Joel Olsteen’s house - a nonprofit who pays no taxes and received a PPP loan.

So are you agreeing with the Bernie on publicly funded elections to remove the corporate profit from public service ?

I’m not picking sides. I can go point out some Republicans that made money off being politicians.

You shouldn’t be getting rich being a politician. No matter what side your on.

Therefore, I do not take issue with anyone's salary from CEO's to politicians to sports figures to your average American worker. I hate when people who do not know what goes into someone's job or what it took to get them there passes judgement on their worth or value. I do not begrudge anyone the money they make so when someone says that a person makes "too much money" it irks me because they are ignoring all of the reasons why people earn what they do.

CEO’s make too much...how about politicians?

Their salaries are under $200k a year. They are not getting rich off of their govt gig. They are getting rich doing speaking arrangements, book deals etc. And many have spouses that have money. So it’s not a clear picture.

Mitch’s wife is rich. Nancy Pelosi’s husband is rich. So the net worth you are seeing isn’t just because they are in the government.

I don’t necessarily agree or disagree but I don’t think under $200k is too much for a salary when people all over our area make that or more.

I actually agree with you here. But my views on this topic tend to be a bit extreme. I think a politician's salary should be more aligned with the median income of the state they represent. Then they would better understand the challenge the average American household faces trying to survive on $45k a year or whatever the average for their state is. Maybe they would push for better if they could relate. I also don't agree with the existence of career politicians (a lot of which becomes decay over the decades - like in the instance of Mitch McConnell - no reason why we've had to witness this creep's face age right before our eyes) and they shouldn't have pensions or healthcare plans above that of their constituents. If their constituents don't have pensions or healthcare they shouldn't either. Maybe if these things affected them personally they would fight more for American workers.

No. What you have said countless times now is that minimum wage shouldn't be raised because teens don't need money and it's not fair to YOU since you don't make a lot, took a pay cut and (in your mind) work so much harder than anyone making minimum wage.

Not from his gov't salary, like everyone repeatedly says.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/danalexander/2017/01/20/how-barack-obama-has-made-20-million-since-arriving-in-washington/?sh=2c37436e5bf0

In total, Obama has earned $15.6 million as an author since arriving in Washington.
Obama made another $3.7 million from government salaries.

POTUS earns $400,000 per year as president. 8 years = $3.2 or so million, plus Senate salary.

All Presidents make a lot of money from books. There's nothing wrong with that.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/how-much-is-george-w-bush-worth

He’s capitalized on the Oval Office with tens of millions of dollars in speaking fees and a book deal (in 2010, he published the book "Decision Points") since he left the White House. At his peak, Bush was worth close to $40 million.
...

I see no problem in a POTUS making as much money as possible on speaking and book deals after their term is over.

Imo we need no billionaires, less millionaires in government and more average working joes to represent the rest of America's average working joes. How does a billionaire relate to a blue collar construction worker? We also need more young blood. The reason we've gone off the rails as a nation is because of all the old wealthy people in government looking out for themselves.

Obama is worth 70 million

The Obamas entered the White House with a $US1.3 million net worth in 2008.

Again.... so what? He didn't make that as a politician. Neither did Bush, or (almost) any other POTUS.

The Obamas and Bush's, Clintons, Carters, all release their taxes, so it's very clear where all of their money comes from.

You can't say that Billionaire CEO's earn their salary, but ex-POTUSs can't earn millions with book deals and speaking deals. You're contradicting yourself again.

Re: CEO’s make too much...how about politicians?

Every president's net worth grows by tens of millions after they've held office. People pay a lot of money to hear from former presidents. There's nothing wrong with that. Once out of office they become private citizens. Why shouldn't they capitalize on their experience? That's the beauty of capitalism. Only a handful of other people have been in their shoes.
