Cereal feeding question?
OK, so we tried for the first time yesterday, she didn't seem to hate it, but she seemed to push half of it out of her mouth with her tounge so there was more outside of her face than in her mouth....how long did it take until they understood to swallow it instead of spitting it out..she definitely wanted more bc she kept opening her mouth for more....
THX!!!

Re: Cereal feeding question?
I think DS played with it and spit it out for a couple of days... then he got the hang of it!

Re: Cereal feeding question?
Just keep on trying. She will get the hang of it soon. I would say in another week or so. Reilly is 6 months old and still pushes a little out sometimes!

Re: Cereal feeding question?
We started on Wednesday and he is still pushing it out. He does not know what to do with it. I will put it in his mouth and he smiles. I don't think he really likes it. I thought he was starting to get the hang of it on Friday but the past two days he has not been into it. I sometimes have to chase it down with the bottle. I guess we have to just keep trying. Good luck!

Re: Cereal feeding question?
it definitely took DS a few days to get the hang of it. when we started cereal at 5 months it was a good week or so before most of it ended up in his mouth - and he just kept getting better and better at it.
as long as she is opening her mouth for more she is ready for it! the tongue-thrust reflex will disappear with time.

Re: Cereal feeding question?
It took us a while before Abby took it in and even still she doesn't love it all that much. She does like oatmeal more than rice.
