cesspool question

How often do you need to get it pumped out? How much does it cost? We are purchasing a home with a cesspool and i was wondering if we should get it pumped first

Re: cesspool question

we had ours looked at and pumped when we first moved in and I "think" it cost about $150.

Its a good idea to have it looked at to make sure that everything is working.

I posted the name of number of the guys that we used on Julz33 post about cesspools.

Re: cesspool question

FIL must pump his cesspool every year
The house we are buying hasnt had it pumped for at least 5 years.
They are both VERY comparable size houses

I think it depends on the size & age of the cesspool and your usage.

Re: cesspool question

we just got ours pumped but found out that it wasnt even close to being full..The prior owners were in the house for about 8 years and they never had it done... We must have a pretty big cesspool!

If all is working properly, you sould not have to have it pumped often at all. I think my parents have had theirs done once in the last 18 years

Re: cesspool question

I've been in my house for 6 years - and just had the cesspool pumped for the first time last year (it was new about 10 years ago). Cost us about $300 - but we also had it chemically treated.
