Changing Insurancw with Infertility--Scared of Pre existing Denial

Ladies
My insurance does not cover infertility at all. So we talked this morning of switching to insurance through DH's job. It is more expensive but if we can get the infertility treatments covered it would cost us less in the long run.

Now I am wondering if we switch can the insurance company deny me infertility treatment coverage because it would be a pre existing condition.


Anyone encounter this? What did you do?

From what I understand, they cannot deny IF benefits due to pre-existing.
You should call the company and ask, though...this way you are sure of the answer.

Due to HIPAA laws, if you have no lapse in insurance they must cover a pre-existing condition. The problem with pre-existing conditions happens when there is a lapse in medical coverage.

I switched insurance companies for the same reason and there were no issues.

I agree with above, as long as you do it during open enrollment you should have no problem. I'm on my3rd insurance...
