Changing shower head help

I really don't want to call the plumber. Can anyone give me a quick tutorial?

I went on you tube. Very funny to find that it seems simple enough however most of these people are trying to hold the camera while changing the head. You see the head, them going to unscrew the old head with the wrench, then cut to a wall while they explain what they are doing while grunting.

So I think I get the idea, but I thought these videos were not helpful.

Thanks

This is how I have always done it...remove the old shower head, put teflon tape on the threads and screw on the new shower head. The teflon tape prevents water leaks.

Re: Changing shower head help

Have you ever put a spray nozzle on a garden hose? Exactly the same idea. The only difference is that the "hose" is attached to the wall, and you don't want to scratch the showerhead.

Use something around the jaws of the pliers (rag, t-shirt, etc) to keep from scratching the new head. Teflon tape is definitely a good idea. It's really cheap from Sears or HD in the plumbing sections.

It's a good idea to use one hand to hold the pipe coming out from the wall when you are both removing and reinstalling the heads. You don't want to put unnecessary pressure on the pipe.

What everyone else said. Plus, when you think you've put on enough teflon tape, put a little more. It helps it not leak/drip.
