Changing table question - opinions please!

I don't have a changing table or pad so I've been changing my 8 week old DS either in his crib, in our bed, or on the changing table attachmnt of bassinet. But 90% of the time hes changed in his crib.

Now, I want to make the transition to his crib and have been thinking about a chaning table. I found a few on wallmart site that have drawers underneath. Everyone is telling me they are a waste of $$ but I could use the storage drawers underneath, especially to store diapers and wipes, since they are now in his crib.

If you don't have a changing table, where do you change your LO? Do ou think its necessary for me to have one? I don't really want to continue changing him in the crib....

Re: Changing table question - opinions please!

I didn't get a changing table per se- but we have a dresser that we put a changing pad on.
I like it- it serves both purposes- storage and area to change her on..
If you don't want to get a full on dresser I say go for the changing table.
I personally need a place to change her- I don't like bending over to do it in the crib or sitting on the floor etc

Same as above poster, we have a changing pad on top of a dresser. And I agree it's too hard to bend over for me so the dresser works great. Plus once you lower the crib mattress that's not going to be an option anymore.

Re: Changing table question - opinions please!

i have a changing table that we have used from birth and DS is now 25 months -

It is open with two shelves and we have baskets on those shelves for diapers, burp clothes, lotions and medicines etc.

When he is older, we will use it for books! The wood parts that hold the changing pad on come off and it becomes like a little bookshelf!

ETA its called the Savana Morgan Changing Table

Re: Changing table question - opinions please!

Thanks everyone, now I don't feel crazy for wanting one. I am getting tired of bending over the crib!
To PP, I am going to check out the one you have. I like that it can be used as a book shelf later on. Chat Icon

ETA: i would love to get a pad for the dresser, but I only have a tall one !Chat Icon

We share a room with DS (We live in a co-op), so we use our long dresser as his changing table and dresser.

He has 3 drawers for his clothes (I have the other 3) and the top houses the changing pad, and baskets for his diapers, wipes, creams, etc.

ours is on top of a dresser. i like the versatility of it.
if you dont want a dresser then maybe get a cheap changing table. DS knows the difference of being on the changing table or on the floor being changed. he behaves a lot better on the table and its so easy in terms of comfortablness for me to change him on a table.

I used my dresser/changing combo for 3 years! Even after DC was out of diapers I used it after the bath etc.

My DD's dresser had a changing table attachment that fit the changing mattress and had a spot for lotions, creams, wipes, etc. I put a diaper basket on the end of the dresser in the remaining space. It was perfect. We used it until she was about 3y3m and then we removed the "changing station" attachment and now she has a regular dresser. Chat Icon

Re: Changing table question - opinions please!

ours is on top of his dresser as well, and that works great for us. we keep the diapers & stuff in a basket on top of the dresser nearby so we just reach in there and grab stuff which is very convenient. this works great for us, but if that's not an option for you and you have the space for a separate changing table, go for it!
