Changing table question for 2 story houses
Hi girls,
I have a 2 story house and our baby's room is going to be upstairs, a few people suggested setting up a changing station on the 1st floor as well b/c I am not going to want to make trips up and down all day.
Do you think I should buy a changing table for the 1st floor as well or will the pack and play with the changing table work? Not sure how easy it will be to change the baby on the pack and play changing tray? Anyone?

We're in an apartment but my girlfriend just had a baby and has a two story house. They use the pack n play on the 1st floor and have her nursery on the 2nd.

We have a 2 story house, and the baby room is on the 2nd floor. I plan to use the pack and play on the 1st floor, for naps, diaper changes etc...

Same here. The baby's room is on the main level of our home, but the pack and play will stay in the basement.

friends of ours who just had a baby are using their pack and play and the couch for now. Their baby is just a couple of weeks old.

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
When DD was born, we had her bedroom upstairs and a pack and play in the den - it worked fine for us.

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
most people i know with a 2 story house have the baby's room with changing table and then pack and play downstairs for that reason

We will do this exactly..
But what happened when there were not pack and plays? How did people do it with 2 story houses in the past?

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
I have a 3 story house. I plan to have the changing table in the bedroom. I anticipate having the Pack n PLay with changing table in the living room. It also wouldnt bother me to walk up the stairs though- I figure it will help work off the baby weight.

there were two-story houses in the past?
our PNP will be in the bedroom (2nd floor), and the nursery is on the 2nd floor as well, so we will have a regular changing mat with a changing station on the first floor, no special changing table. the dining room table or the floor will work just fine.

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
I actually do not always change my DS on his changing table. In my living room I have basket where I keep the things to change him. I just take it off the shelf and just put him on the floor or couch when I change him. I just put a receiving or regular blanket under him.

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
We used the pack n play or I just laid a receiving blanket down on the couch and did it there. Especially with a c-section, the dr. said 1 flight of stairs per day, so it definitely helped having a second set up.

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
I'm gonna have a PnP set up in the living room, changing table upstairs in DS' nursery. This is what all of my friends have done in the past and it seems to work well.

This is what I plan to do as well, although I think naps will be upstairs.

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
We used our pack-n-play for downstairs and it worked out great...the less you have in the house, the better IMO, baby-stuff tends to multiply FAST !!

Re: Changing table question for 2 story houses
IMO a baby's diaper can be changed anywhere (floor, couch etc, with a pad or blanket underneath them), it does not have to be on a changing table, I wouldn't bother spending more money on another changing table.
ETA: The pack & play I registered for has a changing table on it, so we will probably use that.
