Love love love! And I am SO glad that Diana is in there somewhere. I know the Queen was not a fan, and was very anti-Diana, but out of respect, and dare I say love, for her grandson, I'm so happy she allowed it.

I LOVE the name and I LOVE that Diana is in there. I guess I don't understand why the Queen would have to OK it - Diana is his mother. I used my mother's name as my DD's middle name but I am not royalty...lol.
I just think its a beautiful way to acknowledge his love for his mom.

Elizabeth is also Kates' middle name and her mother's middle name, so it's nice that the 3 generations share the same middle name.

Im surprised too. I dont know why lol. Maybe i think of it as kinda trendy or popular and I was thinking of more classic names like katherine, victoria, alexandria along those lines. Love the name though

Yes named after her paternal grandparents and paternal great grandmother (the queen)I am glad Diana was squeezed in there. So rude if she wasn't.
Eta - I hope she's called Lottie as a nickname.

I really dislike the name. Besides making me think of Charlotte's web, I hate the sound of the shortened version as well "Shar". I LOVE that they honored Diana but I think 2 middle names makes it less special, especially because it's the 2nd middle name.

well British royalty usually have three to seven names so it is not disrespectful at all. Charlotte is a beautiful name. I don't know anyone who would reduce the name to Shar. They would go with Charlie or Lottie as nicknames in the Uk.

Charlotte is a beautiful old fashioned name that has been in use for hundreds of years. I named my DD Charlotte because I love the name and it's also been a family name from way back on both sides of our family. We do not shorten it as we think it is beautiful, and our daughter loves her name. A modern nickname for it is Charlie, older fashioned ones were Lottie or Tottie. My great Aunt Charlotte was known as Aunt Tot-tee.
The Guardian in London says the Charlotte is Pippa Middleton's middle name. And, I'd read that Elizabeth is Kate's mother's name as is the Queen's. So they managed to honor everybody with Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Charlotte, the feminine form of Charles, has a long royal pedigree and became popular in the 18th century when it was the name of George III's queen.
The King bought Buckingham House in 1761 for his wife Queen Charlotte to use as a family home close to St James's Palace - it became known as the Queen's House and is now Buckingham Palace.
Charles is the name of two former Kings and of the Prince of Wales, the princess's grandfather.
Charlotte also has a connection on the duchess's side, as the middle name of her sister Pippa Middleton.
According to figures from the Office for National Statistics, Charlotte is the 21st most popular girl's name in England and Wales with 2,242 babies being given it in 2013.
