Chase bank
I just read on my bank statement that as of 4/1 we can only make 3 free withdrawals from our savings account. After that its $3 each withdrawal.
Am I reading this right? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Re: Chase bank
Is it a saving account only? I only have a checking acct with them, but use the ATM often to withdraw money from my checking acct.

I think its on savings only.
We have 2 bills paid automatically from there, now I have to see if that counts for 2 of my 3.
I was talking to my accountant today and he said all banks are doing crap like this

Re: Chase bank
Definately something to look into. DH makes all his ATM withdrawls from savings, not checking so he doesn't leave us short for checks we've written. We may have to change that game plan.
There is a government regulation that limits you to 6 on-line transfers from savings accounts each month. You can make transfers from an ATM or in person but it's limited on-line and there is a higher fee for that.
It may have to do with the account you have too - some accounts limit your transactions without a fee.

Re: Chase bank
I stopped by Chase today and they confirmed the limitations. It may vary by account, as mine allows for 4 withdrawls from savings per month. Withdrawls include any method for removing money from the account - ATM withdrawl, Teller withdrawls, Transfers between Savings and Checking, Bill Payments - doesn't matter how it comes out, it's a withdrawl. After you surpass your limit it's a $3 charge.
I also asked them about something I found in their 8-page online list of fees. The list an ACH (online transfer service fee) of $3.00 per request. It says that the fee may be waived with certain types of accounts. I wanted to know if that meant I'd get a $3.00 fee for transfering between Chase and ING accounts. When I tried to clarify with the person at the bank they couldn't give a definate yes or no. She said that there could be a charge, although they may not currently be charging it. I haven't seen any charges for that so I'm wondering if my account doesn't incur them.
In any event, it's time to start looking for other options - I'm tired of Chase and their fees and other stuff they pull to screw their customers.
