Cheap/Free Indoor Things to do with Toddlers/Preschoolers
Seems we are getting cabin fever... what are some inexpensive/free places to take your DC's until we can see the grass again.
I took DS to a pet store once to look at the fish. FREE
I also took him to the Harley and Suzoki Motorcycle shops to look at the "quads & monster trucks" FREE

Wood Kingdom let DS in for free because he's under 18 months!
We also do the library once a week & cruise the mall and/or Target. Not terribly exciting, but so long as there are new women to flirt with he's easily entertained

Sunrise Mall and I think South Shore Mall has an indoor playplace.

DH likes to take DS to Best Buy. DH claims DS loves it in there. He also loves Pet Smart.
DS has been spending more time at the library since it's been cold out.
We also take DS to FAO Schwarz and Toys R Us in the city. Free and always lots of fun.
Not free but DS loves going to the Children's Museum and Aquarium.
We don't live in LI but I believe Once Upon a Treetop and Safari Adventure have inexpensive open play times.
The last time we were in LI, we went to IKEA and DS loved it in there. They also have a little play area for kids at the food court in Hicksville's Broadway Mall.

yup and they have a pet shop (hate them but it's a good distraction for the kids) and also a big fish pond near the play area..

McDonalds indoor playground. Sunrise and Hicksville mall have play areas that both my kids love. Once Upon A Treetop costs money but you can bring your own lunch in and stay for the entire open play time.

check your library for free passes that you can take out to some of the local museums, like LICM and the whaling museum.

Re: Cheap/Free Indoor Things to do with Toddlers/Preschoolers
Cold Spring Harbor Library is amazing.
Any library should have a kids' section.
My DD LOVES LOVES LOVES Ikea. She plays in the play area for an hour, free, while I shop. Then we get her mac & cheese for lunch ($0.99) and then she plays in the toy area. And thennn if it isn't too late, we go to the play area in the mall itself. That's a full day of fun for peanuts!!
ETA - We also get museum passes from our library, and sign up for all the storytimes around (free).
Also Borders on 110 -- DD loves it there too.
