While this makes me sick to know that your son is being bullied in this way, I'm not at all surprised that this behavior is occurring in school or that the teacher is condoning and participating in it.

It all starts at home. Kids don't lean these things by themselves. If the parents are ignoring your or treating you badly, how will their kid act any differently.

I would speak to the principal. If he does not take it seriously, go to the superintendent. I would not take this lying down.

Good luck - and please know, not everyone on LI treats people so disrespectfully.

I'm sorry, what? You are NOT surprised that the teacher is condoning it?

Yes, that is a very bizarre comment.

Anyway, please speak with the teacher, social worker, and follow up with the principal. Email and document all of your interactions. This sounds very crazy to me in a first grade class room.

Was thinking of you and your son - wondering how things are going? Hope the school has been more responsive and is taking action.

hoping that you are getting answers from the district for you and your son. I would personally have him removed from that teachers class and go even higher than the principal. Ask for a meeting with the Superintendent if you decide to stay in that school district. I am so sorry this is happening to you as an educator this makes me so sick that this is being done to your child.

Re: child bullied; teacher asks uncomfortable questions

I have done work in Great Neck schools and am so sorry that this is happening to you.

I hate to say this - and please don't take this the wrong way. I am Jewish so I think I feel I can speak a little freer.

Great Neck has a huge Jewish population, and Israeli population.

I think the kids unfortunately hear awful things at home from their parents. And as a Muslim in that area, I feel you might be treated differently by the parents because they could be closed minded and ignorant.

Please no flames - I just have worked there with students and know how the families can be.

That being said - a district will not provide tuition for a private school.

You can, however, take this as high up as you need to until it is addressed. Your son is being bullied and I would go to the superintendent and up and up until this is addressed. How heart breaking for him and for you.

I would share everything - what your son is experiencing personally, what he reports is happening in the classroom. Don't stop until you get acknowledged and it gets addressed!!!

I think it's really odd that this person has only posted 3 times and they have only been on this thread. They aren't responding to any questions or private FMs. Sorry, something seems fishy.
