Childs Birthday Thank You Question

OK, let me begin by saying I am not here yet, so I really don't know what the proper thing is.

We all remember doing our thank you cards for showers, weddings, etc.

DH and I went to a 2 year old bday party recently. I know he can't write his own thank you card, so it is up to the parent to do it.

Do you think it is proper for the parent to specify your gift in the thank you when sending the card out? I know that's the thing to do for all other occasions. We got a thank you card that simply said "thank you for my gifts". It just makes me feel as though the parents didn't pay attention to who gave their child which gift and in turn sent out really generic thank yous.

I am just curious to know what the rest of you think about that. Thanks!

When I wrote out the thank you cards for Jacob's first birthday I specified the gift that each person gave. I also wrote something personal in each one as well.

"Thank you for your gifts" signifies that the 2 year old opened the presents when the parents weren't looking & messed up all of the cards.

It's a new to "2 year old" thing. If you don't know any better - it happens.
I would help them out when you speak to him & say "I'm so glad Johnny liked the (insert present)."
