Chocolate covered oreos... hard to make?
I saw cute choc. covered oreos to go with DS bday theme and am wondering if this is going to be easy or hard to make. I would have to use white choc. in order to make it a different color.

Re: Chocolate covered oreos... hard to make?
not hard at all, but a bit messy. If using white, dip, let dry and re-dip as necessary to get the desired coverage

Re: Chocolate covered oreos... hard to make?
how do you keep them from looking sloppy? from having excess chocolate settling at the bottom and drying that way?
do you dip with her fingers and then place them on wax paper?
i remember when I did choco covered pretzels for DS baptism, i got some chocolate pooling on the wax paper. you really have to let the excess drip off but I think it would be harder with oreos? leave marks from your fingers on the sides?

Re: Chocolate covered oreos... hard to make?
i find it much easier to use a mold. they sell them at michaels/ac moores, etc.
pour some chocolate in, then the cookie, pour the rest over it, refrigerate to set and pop them out.

Re: Chocolate covered oreos... hard to make?
Super easy. I have molds that I fill half with chocolate then add the cookie and add the rest of the chocolate. No mess. Let them set in the fridge and they pop right out.
I make them all the time. I love making them with the mint filling.

Also, if you did them as favors, what did you put them in?

I do them as holiday gifts, not favors but I put them in clear cellophane bags with pretty ribbon ties.

i used a mold and it was not that hard at all. Just be careful not to overflow it if you do wipe off the exesive chocolate so when you pop it out of the mold the extra chocolate is not attached.
Also I am not sure what you mean by making it different colors but the do sell different color melting choclate
