Christening Q when parents are from different religion and NOT belonging to a church
I am Catholic and DH is Jewish.
We do not belong to any religious church.
DH is OK with DS being baptized but how do I do it?
I would like my mom to be his godmother (she lives overseas).
I know... I make the situation harder.

just register with your local parish and then sign up for baptism..you will both attend a class together , and depending on the parish your mom will need a letter from her parish saying she belongs to a church
this is how we did it...my DH is jewish also

You can register in your local church and ask them about baptism for your child. Having your mother be your son's godmother can be difficult. My cousin's godmother is our grandmother and she never got anything "special" from her godmother like I used to get. She used to feel slighted that I had both my grandmother and my godmother. Just something to consider. L

Your best bet is start calling churches in your area and ask them what the guide lines are. Also let them know that your mother doesn't live here and if won't be here for the christening what is needed. We just moved and I needed to find a church. One wanted us to register with them, then we needed the class, the godparents needed to have all their scarements and they also needed to get letter from the parish they are registered at saying they are an active member. I called another one and their criteria was the following: they prefer you to register, they prefer you to take the class, only 1 godparent has to have all the scaraments, no letter is required. We went with the second church.
