Christening Questions...Please Help! -Edited

Hi ladies - I've never actually been to a christening party. But, it looks like we are going to be planning one for a fairly large group.

Some questions for you - Is the church and the party always done on the same day? The problem I am having is with finding a place then? Its hard to get a Sunday afternoon since most places want to do night startin after 6.

If the church and party is always done on same day how much of a time gap? And, do you usually do lunch or dinner?

Also if anyone has some good recc for places near Manhasset for 50-75 people i would really appreciate it! TIA!

ETA: what time would you usually start the party? i think the baptisms are usually done starting at 2?

Yes, the church and the party is usually done on the same day. Depending on the distance from the church to the restaurant (or where you're having it), I would give an hour. After the church, you might want to hang around and take a few family pics.

Yes, it's usually that same day. For my first we had the reception right after the ceremony. Doing the same with DD#2. Our god daughters was the same as was family memebers celebrations.

We catered the first and will do the same for second. Had it at a hall type place with the first and this one we are having it in our IL's back yard. Tents' catered and all. I am decorating and doing the favors as well. It's more relaxed and allows us to spend more time with family for we are OOS. If we lived in the same state I would limit it to the usual 4 hr. party.

As PP said, they are usually the same day. Also, depending on distance from church, the party usually starts about 1-2 hrs after the church. Also, depends on how many children will be christened. The more children, the longer the church will be.

The party is usually right after the church. The church for our DS's christening ended at about 12:00 and our party began shortly after that at around 12:30. We served dinner food. It was a catered buffet for 50 people. When people arrived we had appetizers and then shortly after served the food.
