Christmas cards?

I just designed our Christmas cards on Shutterfly. $120, and that's with the 50% off and free shipping codes applied. Is it me or am I getting ripped off? This is for 60 cards.

Re: Christmas cards?

That is outrageous! Buy the groupon for photo affection you get 70 cards for $27. I’ve used them 2 years in a row and my cards were great!

I guess it depends on what kind of cards you ordered. Are they folded cards? $2 per card is about what I pay on Shutterfly. I usually do the ornament cards though

Same here. Tbh, I find the photo quality to be much better than shutterfly anyway.

Yeah definitely. I order through Shutterfly and it's never that much. At least not after the discount.

ETA: I find the foil cards to be extra pricey.

I do JC Penney every year for this reason. You get the photo shoot done and 60 cards for $24.99 with a Groupon

Yes.
I do folded cards on super heavy card stock and it can be very pricey.
But I have a very small list that I send to so to me, I don't mind more money per card because I have less to buy.
If I had to buy 100 cards, I could never afford the cards I get.

I wouldn't pay that for Shutterfly though. I have had issues with them in the past in their print quality. The colors were so badly off one year they had to reprint the whole order.

I stick to Minted, Simply to Impress, Mpix

My photographer told me to avoid Shutterfly

On Shutterfly, I think I usually paid about a $1 a card. Maybe less if there was a great sale. I usually got a double sided 5x7 card stock. No special options. The price per card drops as you order more. I have been doing really last minute cards the last couple of years and got them at Costco - 6x8 single sided photo paper. I think the first 50 are $15.

Re: Christmas cards?

I just paid $38 with Photoaffection groupon for 100 cards - $31 for coupon, there was an additional 20% off when I bought it, plus $7 shipping. This is 4th year I have used them, they are great!

I designed a card on Shutterfly and it came to over $150 for 100 cards, WITH a coupon code.

I didn't get a double sided card, that would have been more money.

I was able to get 40 cards from shutterfly for $10 by combining codes and splitting my order into 2 orders to get around codes that couldn't be combined. I happened to have a few codes for 10 free cards from the Pampers Rewards programs. And also got some good codes for $25 off from Toys r Us rewards and some that were included in Kohls online orders. I feel like shutterfly codes are every where this time of year. Try to keep a lookout before you place your order. Sometimes they have better deals around black Friday too.

Also, I think if you use the shutterfly app, theres currently a code for the 10 free cards.

Re: Christmas cards?

i bought he photo affections groupon for $38 that came with 100 cards.

I ended up spending more money and got the double sided card, and i needed 125.
but my total INCLUDING what i paid for the groupon was about $150 (so $112 extra for the cards less the groupon) I got the cards at 40% off a week ago i think when they were on sale - but they will definitely be on sale again before christmas!

Thanks guys. They're foil which is why they're so much. Is there anywhere else to get foil cards cheaper? I feel like every card I get is foil. Maybe I just have rich friends?!

I probably wouldn't notice the foil. But if that's the design you like, I guess that's why it costs more.
I see they have a 50% off sale now. Are they taking coupons on top of the sale? I could usually find coupons online for a percentage off or a few free cards. And when I had DD1, I got $ off coupons from destination maternity and Similac for announcements that worked on Christmas cards.

No it's a lot for a card . But for the higher quality stock and foil etc it's about average even witha discount

Re: Christmas cards?

You can absolutely find considerably cheaper cards but it’s up to you whether you feel it’s worth the splurge. My personal take is that most people, even if they appreciate the upgraded quality, will eventually throw them out, and for me, it’s not with it to spend $2 plus stamps. But I have a huge family and send out about 100 cards. I’d rather spend more money on having professional quality prints for my parents and in laws who will keep the photos up year round in frames. Having said that, if you really love the cards and it’s something you want to splurge on, then go for it. Again, I do think it makes a nice presentation!

I use Photo Affections and get a deal on Living Social. I got 100 cards for $30 (I got additional money off for using the app). The quality is really good too. Nice thick cardstock.

I usually buy from Costco $15 for 50 cards and 4 calendars. Sometimes $10 with coupon. I have been using them for years.

I bought the photo affections groupon- $60 including the cost of the groupon because I got double sided cards. I don't like them AS much as the foil ones but they'll do! Thanks guys!
