Re: Ciao Baby! or Grand Luxe? or a recommendation for Mexican or Italian??
I have heard TERRIBLE things about Grand Luxe.....Ciao Baby is good for a group. Not the best food I've ever had, but good.

If you're looking for good Mexican, try La Panchita - there's one in the shopping center directly across from Tri County Flea Market (on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown) it looks like a hole in the wall, but it's really good ! LOVE this restaurant!! such amazing food and sangria!

Wow girls...thanks so much for the great info.
OK....based on your reviews, I have narrowed the choices down to Baci's (which I have been to several times and love, just forgot about) and Butera's (which I've never been to, but you all seem to love it so why not).
Thanks soooooooo much!!!
Well since you are going all over the place...I also highly recommend Stresa East in Woodbury. Really really really great. A little pricey though. Sorry to confuse you even more.

If you want good Italian in Massapequa are....we love Buteras....! I don't like Grand Luxe and have not been to Ciao Baby but people I trust didn't have great things to say about it lately...
I actually used to work at both ciao baby and buteras buteras has amazing food! Ciao baby is more of an experience it is very loud and the servers are supposed to kind of mingle with the crowd - the portions are tremendous and it is always very loud!

Girls....don't give me too many options or else the DH will be taking me out more than once for a birthday dinner!
So maybe Butera's for the DH and myself for my bday.
And now...how about a fun place with good food that doesn't mind noisy women. I will be going out with about 7 moms from my son's class. Any suggestions?

I know it's a very popular restaurant and I've heard many people rave about it but we went to the one in Massapequa last week and did not have a good experience.
Maybe it was an off-night in the kitchen, but most likely we will not be going back.
No, it wasnt an off night. Past few times it was horrible. Its been about 2 years since we gone there last. An Italian restaurant who has a sign in front that says "Voted LI's Best Appetizers"......the food cant be that great.

For that, I'd suggest Grand Luxe....
