CIO Questions
When did you start letting DC CIO?
How do you know they really don't want something - like they're hungry or need their diaper changed? If they really need something I would feel bad letting them CIO.

Ava was about 5 months and change when we started to let her cio. I think that at this point, I just "know" her cries. I mean, there's definitely times when I can hear it in her that she's in distress over CIO and needs me. But that's rare. For the most part, it's like a whiney cry that signifies to me that she just doesn't want to be in her crib by herself with no one to play with. After a few nights, you just get it. I wouldn't start any earlier than 5-5.5 months, and I believe they suggest more like 6 months.
