Circumcision...to cut or not
Have you made a decision on circumcision? If so, why did you decided one way over another?

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
Well...we are Jewish, so if it's a boy, it's customary. However, we will not have a bris at the house...we will just have it done at the hospital.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
I had a girl but if we were to have a boy we were going to get him circumsized. No real rhyme or reason just DH is and we want our son to be too.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
We had a girl but when the time comes if we have a boy I will leave the decision up to DH. He is circumcised but actually isn't sure he wants to do that to his son. Like me he feels it is unecessary but we go back and forth on the whole appearance thing since most boys in the US are circumcised but it seems like maybe these days the percentage of uncircumcised boys is rising.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
Alex was born in Ireland and they do not routinely circumcise there. So he is not. However, we had discussed this before we started TTC and decided we would not circumcise our son if he was born here in NY.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
DH isn't. If we have a boy he probably will not be either. DH has not been negatively effected by it at all. Unless I find some truely important medical benefits to it, I think we will just leave him intact.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
We did get Caiden circumsized. My DH is as well. To us, it was just the norm, we didn't think otherwise. I've heard of it being more sanitary also. As far as appearance wise, we never thought that if we didn't do it that he would be ridiculed (sp?) because of it. Just because that's how we were brought up and it just seems like that's what you do? Since we are having another boy, he will also be circumsized. We have friends that have boys that are not because of religion purposes. It's a very personal decision. I wouldn't base it on what everyone else does. Good luck!

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
We have a boy and basically, he was circumcised because it was important for DH.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
Neither of us are Jewish but we would if it is a boy. Both DH and my late dad had circumcisions later in life (my dad was a teenager) and said it was NOT pleasant

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
If we have a boy he will be. DH is Jewish and he wants his son to be like him. Personally, I don't see any reason to have it done, but for him I will go with it.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
We've actually never discussed it. I guess it's just a given in our families to have it done.

I personally think it is important for a son to "look" like his Daddy.

If we ever have a boy (by birth) then we will not do it. I just don't see it as necessary.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
Our son is not circumsized. Dh isn't either and he's never had any issues so we agreed it was best to leave our son intact.

Re: Circumcision...to cut or not
We were also on the fense and I told DH it was up to him, DH is circumcised. Well when the nurse was asking me questions to admit durning labor that was one of the questions and I said no and looked at DH and he said that was fine. I know they dont remember the pain but I felt bad putting him through that considereing it is optional.
