Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS
I have this problem with Citibank as well. Just stops working sometimes at the mall have to get out of the line, call on my cell and verify...ring everything back up.
When I worked at Capital One, they are really bad with it too. People without cell phones would call up livid. It would be the middle of the night, they are on a road trip, and all of a sudden there card gets declined when pumping gas.
I agree, it really isn't in the customers interest since we would not have to pay for it anyway.

Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS
bumping because i just got a call from the CB early fraud warning dept again!!
Apparently, a $170 grocery charge from Pathmark, combined with a $50 gas charge, is DEFINITELY an indication that my card has been stolen, or is being used fraudulently! AND reason enough to put a hold on my card!!???? yeah, 'cause thieves LOVE to have a car load of groceries while they're driving!!
seriously, I can totally appreciate their loss prevention policies, but this is a PITA sometimes!

Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS
Wow, we only use our Citibank card. And we put everything on our card, even our oil and electric and pay it off at the end of the month. We have an account where DH and I both have cards on the same account. The only time they called was when I used it in NY and DH used it the same day in FL when he was on a business trip. Once I told them that it was fine, they never froze the card.

Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS
UPDATE - 2/21/06
In the past three weeks... Shyttybank has blocked me TWO MORE TIMES!
Once two weeks ago because I bought a computer power supply on the internet for my job.
And yesterday I was doing a major audio installation for the bar I DJ at... I was going around buying the parts. I got blocked again after my purchase at Sam Ash!
I called the supervisor and gave her royal hell on the phone! They told me on the 1st they would put my account in "supression" and this wouldn't happen as easily. Well its happening now more than ever!
I told her I was going to stop using the card and she credited my account $50 buks.
So I told her it better not happen again or else they will be paying me another $50. She said "Well I cannot guarantee we will be able to give you another credit if it happens again". So my response to her was "Well then I cannot guarantee I will continue to use the card. In fact I WILL guarantee I will stop using the card if this happens again!"
These people SUUUUUUK !!!!!

Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS - UPDATED they did it AGAIN on page 2 !!!
I only use Amex
Citibank did that to me right before my wedding- after I bought all my BM gifts online- the stopped me when I went to get my eyebrows waxed for $25
I spent about $500 on line- at saks and make-up stores- totally in line with my normal purchases- except I rarely use the card

Ummm, isn't the point of a credit card to go shopping? I understand the fraud protection, but I think the problems you are having are way beyond the call of duty. I think you're being nice by giving them yet another warning. I probably would have cancelled right there on the spot

Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS - UPDATED they did it AGAIN on page 2 !!!
I was $2 short on my CC payment....so during the holidays while on line, paying w/ my CB card, the guy said, decline....I was like ***? I find out later it was for the $2. I called the card and told them I would cancel blah blah blah....and he said it is not their job to inform you if you are $2 short (or any amount),...but after reading all of these, they SHOULD call, since they are doing it for fraud. And get this, guess where I work???? yeah, CB.....and being an employee didn't even help!

Re: Citibank Credit Card Rant - Early Fraud Warning BS - UPDATED they did it AGAIN on page 2 !!!
My account got frozen on the day of my DH's surprise 30th Bday party.
I called them screaming like a RAVING LUNATIC. I started to feel bad because I could tell that the girl who took the call was getting really scared.
Finally, I told her that I wanted some sort of restitution for the problem, especially because I had called into their system to "reactivate" the account and I still couldn't get gas at the gas station. I was absolutely FURIOUS that when I called, she asked me to put the "merchant" on the phone. That's when I went absolutely nuts, screaming about how the "merchant" doesn't pay my bills and the merchant and her could both kiss my azz.
Someone was supposed to call me back, but they never did. I can't imagine why not.
