Class gift question
Do you contribute to the class gift?
If so, how much do you give/is generally recommended by the class parent per teacher ?
And, do you also get something small aside from the class gift?
We were asked to give $30 for 2 teachers, but I feel like I would also like to get something small on the side.

Re: Class gift question
I always give more then just the class gift. i spend up to whatever the set amount I have in mind for the person. I know I want to spend $25 on my DS's teacher and the class mom asked for $10 to contribute to a class gift so I will prob make up the difference with a $15 DD gift card.

Re: Class gift question
In our school. There is standard amount to collect for class gifts. $10 for teacher and $5 for paras.... We also have to say or whatever you think is appropriate.
I usually give 20-25 gift on top of the class gift.

Re: Class gift question
Our class mothers collected a small amount for the teacher and assistant, so I'd like to give something extra.
Is giving cash tacky?

Re: Class gift question
1st and 3rd grade asked for 5-10. Will give them both a little something else. My sons Pre-K class mother asked for $5 total for two teachers. Will definitely give them at least $25 gift cards in addition.

I would not give the teacher cash. I would buy a gift, or a gift card over handing her cash.

Re: Class gift question
I'm the class mom for DD kindergarten class and I was told we are not allowed to collect money. So the other class mom doesn't want to get a group gift. I have no idea what to do for gift for the taacher then.

Re: Class gift question
Yes I contribute. They ask for $40 per child, which is then divided and distributed to the entire staff, not just the teachers. I usually give a little something to my dc's teachers as well, like a b&n or starbucks card, or something homemade if I can get my act together.
