Re: class size?
There were 18 in DD's K class and 18 now in first grade. there are 3 first grade classes and there is one class that is inclusion which has an extra teacher plus I think 2 aides.... DD's K class was an inclusion class and they had 2 teachers plus 4 aides!!! (there were also only 3 Kindergarten classes)

Re: class size?
DD's Kindergarten class had 15 kids. There was a teacher and an aide for my DD's food allergies
Her 1st grade class has 19 children and 2 aides. One is for my DD and the other, I presume is for another child.
Our school has seen a dramatic decrease in enrollment.
When my DD was in Kindergarten, they went from 5 K classes to 3. There were 42 total students entering Kindergarten that year. Same thing happened this year.

Re: class size?
My DS has 20 kids. My DH went last week for dad's day and he said in addition to his main teacher, there were 2 aides/assistants and another child has a one-on-one. So there are 4 adults in all. We thought that was pretty darn good.

Re: class size?
DS had 21 in K and now has 25 in 1st (it's inclusion though - so I think that there is an extra teacher in there!) - there are about 10 classes in his grade.
I work in an affluent district and it rarely goes over 20 for K and 24/25 for all upper grades to 6th (that is high - it's usually less).

Re: class size?
We have 25 in DS kindergarten class here in long beach. If the class size stays this high in other grades, i'm switching him to catholic school.. and note, there are four other elementary schools in long beach! crazy!

Re: class size?
My son has 25 in his class and 3 classes this year. He has a teacher and an assistant. Part of me thinks the # will drop off next year as the local public schools have gone to half day Kindergarten. Last year there were only 2 classes, but then again I was told that was a fluke and that there are usually 3. We shall see.

my daughter had 17 in her K class and now has 18 in her first grade class. I teach second grade in Queens and have 30 second graders which is insane!
