Cleaning Basement Floor?
Anyone know what I can use to clean my concrete basement floor to prep for painting? -
I have a HUGE basement and we're not ready to 'finish' it yet, but I'd like to seal and paint the concrete floor to make the space a bit more 'user friendly' for the time being ......TIA !!

Re: Cleaning Basement Floor?
sounds ridiculous but a heavy bleach / water solution. this will get rid of all the mold or mildew that could have grown. i would def make sure you leave the hosue, however after doing it!!!!

Re: Cleaning Basement Floor?
I just washed the floor with typical floor cleaner, let it dry and then we painted it. We did this in our laundry/utilitiy room for now until we redo it. It looks much cleaner and easy to clean up. GL!

Re: Cleaning Basement Floor?
Thanks! - I was leaning toward the bleach solution, I figure a good cloroxing can kill anything !!

Re: Cleaning Basement Floor?
What paint are you going to use on the floor? You might want to look at the instructions on the paint can on how to prep the floor first.
Any good paint store would help you with that.

Hmmm, I don't know. Tan or gray I guess, I don't think the waterproofing stuff comes in too many different colors. It's not a permanent thing, just for now so it's waterproofed, easier to clean and maintain and the space can be used, somewhat -
I did some research online, most say use a bleach or 'special' solvent ...I guess I can ask the paint store guys, but they never seem to be much help
ETA: Sorry, I thought you asked what paint COLOR ...........I don't know exactly the brand, but it's a water sealer and specifically for basement floors -
