Cleaning ears - need some help
No matter what I do, DD just has dirty ears. I even clean them gently with qtips (never entering the ear canal).
We clean the ears with every bath (ever other day) but I still feel like every time I look at her ears, there's a build up.
What the heck can I do to make sure her ears stay clean?

Noahs are gross too..orange looking wax, the Dr said its Teething related, the more they teeth, the ear is affected , producing more wax and it protects the ears from infection as the gums swell..
It will go away eventually..dont worry about it and tell people not to look in her ears!

wow, I hadn't realized that! If it helps with infection while teething I won't complain!

Re: Cleaning ears - need some help
I have this issue with my own ears and actually went to an ENT cause I was sooo clogged in my left ear. He said DO NOT clean out with a qtip. I stopped and just clean with a wash cloth in the shower and my ears are so much better. I think the wax stays softer (not to be gross) and comes out on it's own or when I use the wash cloth.

Jackson has really waxy ears too. I'll sometimes lie him down and pour a mix of 1/2 warm water and 1/2 hydrogen peroxide into his ear. Then I'll massage his ear for a few seconds to help break up the wax, then turn him over to let it drain.

Re: Cleaning ears - need some help
Hey Donna that is great to know - I noticed this with Alex just recently (and she just got her 2nd tooth - how funny). Anyway when I see it reachable I use my pinkie fingernail - yes I do! Much better than a bobby pin like my mom used to use on us!

Re: Cleaning ears - need some help
I admit, I am a pinky nail ear wax picker too. Every time the kid eats I am either picking his ears or his nose

Re: Cleaning ears - need some help
My pediatrician suggest we started using Debrox.
Ask your pediatrician if she's too young to use it on her ears. It clears the wax right out.
