Cleaning Products and Pregnancy
Did you go green with cleaning products once you found out you were pregnant?
I realized today that everything I touch with my bare hand - like a Clorox wipe for example - is going to get absorbed into my skin...is it dangerous?
I sprayed my tub down with bleach yesterday and today I cleaned my dishwasher with Shelia Shine only to realize afterwards that the label says "harmful fumes" on it
Are you careful about what you touch and inhale? I swore I wouldn't be one of those "nutty" pregnant women but now I'm hoping I didn't harm the
I am a cleaning fanatic so I have to clean - is it okay to use the regular cleaning products? Are green products any safer?

I use straight bleach like it's going out of style. Just make sure you have some ventilation. I didn't switch to anything green. I think you'll be just fine.

Crashing
I was also very concerned with cleaning products with my first . I used gloves and didn't clean any rooms that were small with no ventilation or windows , my DH handled those. I always opened a window , stopped with the lysol spray or anything with added bleach.
I did not use the green products , I didn't even think about that at the time but if others say they are just as thorough , I say go for it!

Re: Cleaning Products and Pregnancy
whenever possible I try to use green products... cleaning and body products, along with food products.
I even have green windex. Of course it's hard to do with everything, but I think every little bit does count.
That's not to say cleaning with bleach is totally harmful... I just prefer to be more green if I can.
Wash your hands after you use those products though. And try to use papertowels to clean with so your hands aren't touching too many of the chemicals.
I'd say the same thing if you were pregnant or not pregnant.

Re: Cleaning Products and Pregnancy
I still use the same cleaning products. I feel like we always have a never ending supply and haven't run out of anything to replace it with a green product. I usually wear clothes when cleaning because my hands get dry. I would just make sure the room is ventilated. I really don't think its a huge deal, but if you are concerned ask your doctor they would know what to avoid etc.

We used green products before, so we continue to do so. I think the regular ones are probably fine as long as you aren't covering yourself in them

Re: Cleaning Products and Pregnancy
I don't think they're dangerous necessarily, but the fumes make me crazy. I switched to Seventh Generation cleaning supplies and was much happier. They smell nice and work well... and when the bathroom needs bleach, DH knows it's his job now =)

Re: Cleaning Products and Pregnancy
I have always used mostly green products, but the ones that are not "green" i havent switch.
Anytime I clean I wear gloves...green or no green products. I also keep the windows open while cleaning that room and if it gets too stuffy, I walk out of that room and get some air and come back.
