Cleaning/Sanitizing Bottles/Pacifiers
Now that I've decided to supplement, I have no idea how to use bottles!!
Do you boil/sanitize them every time you use them or do you just wash them with soap and water.
If you sanitize, what do you use?
Thanks!!

Re: Cleaning/Sanitizing Bottles/Pacifiers
You know, the bottles freaked me out in the beginning. Everything I read seemed to say something different.
For the first use, I wash the bottles and nipples with dish detergent, then I boil them in water for 5 minutes (I think that's the time anyway, most bottles have some instructions on this so check).
After that, they don't get boiled again. They get washed on the top rack of the dishwasher. I do the same thing with pacifiers. You could also wash them in the sink with hot soapy water though, that would be fine.

I boiled every time and after DS was a little bit older I started using the dishwasher.

That's what I do too. I do not boil after each use.

We wash them with soap and water and then sterilize after every use. We use the microwave Sterilizer.

Re: Cleaning/Sanitizing Bottles/Pacifiers
I only boiled when first opening them out of the package. After every use, I took it all apart and put all pieces on the top rack of the dishwasher. My machine sanitizes all the pieces.

Re: Cleaning/Sanitizing Bottles/Pacifiers
So now you are probably confused! Everyone does something different.
I would ask your pediatrician if you aren't sure--ours said sanitizing each time was unecessary, but some may recommend it.
