cloth diapering - I have a few questions
Does anyone use the bum genius diapers? I ordered a bunch of these, but can't figure out how the newborn insert works.
Also - is there anywhere on LI to buy cloth diapering supplies? Like wetbags, snappies, etc... or do I have to order it all online?
I'd like to get them into cloth diapers asap!

Re: cloth diapering - I have a few questions
Those are what I am going to be using (I have one that I was trying out along with a bunch of different types and that was the one I liked the best). You just use the newborn inserts when it's snapped on the lowest rise setting, stuffed into the pocket. If that's not enough asorbancy you can use the one-size insert and just snap that down to the smaller setting.
I don't think there are any CD stores on LI, everything I have ordered has been online. Do you belong to diaperswappers.com ?? That has been a great resource for me for information. I tried to CD DS as a newborn, but quit after 4 weeks. Now at 4 months I'm getting back into it and it's much easier at this point!! LMK if you have any other questions

Re: cloth diapering - I have a few questions
Hi, I use BG's & now, Happy Heiney's also. Unfortunately, I never had the n/b inserts, so can't help much there. I looked on one of the websites, & it sounds like the inserts go into the pocket normally; just make sure you have the snaps on the front of the diaper fastened to give you the smallest size diaper possible.
Diaper pin is another great website for info & product reviews.
As for diaper stores here - none that I've found. I've ordered everything on line. I really like cotton babies - they'll even buy back old diapers. (Although I imagine that works better if you haven't gotten one-size diapers.)
My one bit of very useful advice is this: don't wash disposable wipes with your BGs. I have ended up with a few in the wash by accident, & end up picking lint out of the velcro tabs. It's awful!
Good luck!
Feel free to fm me if I can help out.

Re: cloth diapering - I have a few questions
I am hooked on cloth diapering - and of all the brands I use, the bg's are my favorite by far. The velcro tabs get a bit messy looking with washing, but they still work great. Its a great design.
I've never used the newborn insert alone - I just went straight to the smallest snap setting on the diaper and the insert. I do use the newborn insert at night as double protection. DS was over 7 lbs when I started, which I think is the minimum size for the diapers.
I used nickisdiapers.com - and I really like them. Free shipping on pocket diapers!
BTW - the brand I am really ticked off about is mommies touch - they really wick. Save your $ and skip that brand.
Good Luck! FM if you have questions... I really love the cloth - I can't believe more people dont use them.

Yeah I'm thinking I am going to air dry all the BG covers and just put the inserts in the dryer. Hopefully that will keep the velcro looking ok and the covers dry really quickly.
I ordered from abby's lane, free shipping on all orders and I used the code "abby" and got 5% off my order
