Clothing

For those of you who yo-yo back and forth between weights... what do you do about clothes?? i have some fat clothes and some skinny clothes and I always feel like I have nothing in between. I have fluctuated between 35 pounds. Right now, I am not at my heaviest but towards that side, but trying to work-out and diet towards the lowest weight yet again. I started to get rid of clothes but this subject always frustrates me. What if I gain the weight back and need the "fat" clothes and I look at the "skinny" clothes and think... even if I lose weight and tone up - will I ever fit into this again? I don't have money to buy new clothes all the time but I feel like I have nothing to wear all the time, since a 5 pound difference on me is a lot.

Re: Clothing

I read a book once that said never keep the fat clothes once you get out of them because then you know you have them to go back into them.

While I have been losing weight I have found that clothes that are smaller sizes I have kept are too big. The reason being while I gained weight I stretched them out. I unfortunately have had to buy some clothes but I try to get them as cheap as I can.

Re: Clothing

I got rid of all my "fat" clothes for a couple of reasons.

1. I didnt want the reminder. I hated seeing such big sizes in my wardrobe. It was just an awful reminder

2. I didnt want to ever have to fit into those clothes again

3. I felt so much skinnier and happier in clothes that fit me right.

It was annoying because I basically had to buy a whole new wardrobe. Very few of my clothes are still from my fat days (wit the exception of some big sweatshirts). But now I have no excuse ot maintain my weight- I can't afford new clothes! Use it as a motivation tool. Chat Icon

Re: Clothing

i struggle with this all the time and i hate buying for my current size so i also have no one to blame but myself for the sad state of affairs in my closet.

i do think it's less painful to buy a few versatile pieces for now until you can get through to the next size you have and i've been trying to be more forgiving of myself when i shop and not shop so aspirationally, lol.

i also think i'm going to get rid of the fat clothes once i get past this - i don't need the freedom to grow. i've kept these things just in case and i haven't fared well since just in case seems to become an inevitability.
