Clothing size for coming home outfit.. im confused
should I get newborn or 0-3mo
We picked up an outfit today and we got in newborn, the 0-3 mo looked at least 2 times as big. I think the 0-3 will be swimming on him but im a first time mom so i just dont know

I bought newborn for both DS and DD. They ended up being perfect, but I also have small babies. DS was 6 lbs 7 oz and DD was 6 lbs 4 oz.

thanks. But the thing is i dont know what size he will be but te 0-3 month is for 8-12 lbs so that is def going to be big on him no matter what

Well, its kind of hard to guess. Do you know what weight you and DH were? That could give you some idea, but then DC could be early and therefore smaller. You could always get something in newborn and something in 0-3 just incase. That's what I did. But what I got were inexpensive so I didn't mind buying 2.

DD was 8.7lbs and 21.5 inches long. The 0-3 month outfit swam on her. Newborn fit much better.

wow really! ok that makes me feel better
DH and I were bot under 8 lbs so i hope baby is too.
I was considering getting 2 of te same in different sizes, I guess I could go back, it really wasnt expensive at all

i bought a newborn AND a 0-3 to bring with us 
my niece was 7.6 and 20 inches and my sister says her newborn outfit was swimming on her!

for DD1 we bought newborn and it was HUGE on her. She was 6lbs. I wish we had a premie outfit for her. This time I am waiting to get an approximation of DD2's weight. Don't forget they loose a few ounces too after birth.

Bring one outfit in each size...
They were telling me that my DS was going to be 9lbs or more... So I went out and got a super cute outfit .. 0-3 months... I had to send DH home to get my backup outfit since he was born at 7lbs 10oz... even the newborn outfit was a bit big on him. Better safe then sorry IMO

My family INSISTS that newborn clothes never fit, blah blah blah, yet all the girls on here that JUST had babies say the opposite!
I packed both and bought a few newborn outfits (which I got $hit for even though I left the tags on, lol).

DS wore 0-3 months and it was huge on him. He was 7 lbs 10 oz, and NB clothing fit him for at least a month if not more.

They were estimating that my DD was going to be over 10lbs when she was born so I bought the 0-3 month size for her take home outfit. She was born at 8lbs 8oz and the 0-3 month outfit I had was swimming on her. She lost a little weight in the first week and she ended up wearing NB size for the first 3-4 weeks she was home so I say go with the NB size for the take home outfit. My DD wasn't tiny at her weight and the NB size fit her just fine.

my daughter weighed over 8 pounds....but the 0-3 months were way too big on her. She wore newborn for a few weeks!! Remember, they lose a few oz.'s once they are born.

Ditto. And I told DH that if we need more NB, he will be going out the first week to pick it up!
I packed a NB outfit. If I am worried, we live 5 minutes from the hospital and DH can pick something out of the closet when he goes home to care for the cats.

DS was 8 lbs 1 oz at birth. The newborn outfit was pretty big on him. He's on the shorter side and wore newborn clothes for at least a month.

I was wondering he same thing. I sounds like newborn size is he best bet. DH and I have the cutest newborn outfit already, so we may just use that. (it was the first thing we bought, before we even knew for sure it was a boy...but we just HAD to buy it).

I think I will stick with the newborn size. We also live 5 min from hospital so I can always have someone run to get a 0-3 mo outfit also!!

DS was 8.11 when he was born he left the hospital at 8.01
I had bougght a 0-3 and it was a little loose. I would get newborn, even if its a big baby he/she will probably only wear it once anyway.
